Forbes Learning Ladder has been offering care to children in the Forbes district for over 30 years and has continued to operate as a not for profit community based service throughout that whole time. The service has seen many changes over that time. In 1987 the service began trading as Forbes Child Care Centre, offering occasional care for families. Then in 1999 Forbes Learning Ladder as it is known today opened the multipurpose child care centre. The centre is licensed for 90 child care places per day, catering for Long Day Care, Preschool, Occasional care, Before School Care. In 2016, the providers expanded based on community demand to implement an out of school hours care service known as Forbes Community OSHC.
